Security deposits

Refundable security deposits received are generally liabilities, not rental income. Doortrackr is built around that idea.
What to do
- Do not log a normal refundable deposit as Rent income when you collect it.
- When a deposit is forfeited and becomes taxable income, log it using the forfeited security deposit preset (or the category your CPA advises).
Tip
If you’re unsure how your state or situation treats a deposit, ask your CPA — Doortrackr organizes what you enter; it doesn’t replace tax advice.
