Receipt categories, vendors, and Jobs

Every receipt needs an IRS Schedule E category. Examples include Repairs, Supplies, Insurance, Utilities, and more — matching common Form 1040 Schedule E expense lines.

Vendors

Vendors are payees (Home Depot, plumber LLC, insurance carrier). Create them as you go or manage/merge vendors when cleaning up CSV imports.

Jobs

Optional. Link a receipt to a Job when the expense belongs to a project. See What are Jobs?.

Property

Usually assign a property. For shared costs, see General / unassigned expenses.

Tip for tax season

Consistent categories + property tags mean your Schedule E summary is already organized when you open Reports.
